Interim Head of Procurement

Overall purpose of the role

We are looking for an 8-month fixed term Maternity cover contract for a Head of Procurement. The ideal candidate would be responsible for leading and overseeing all procurement activities, including management of a small Procurement Team. The role involves managing supplier relationships, optimising costs and ensuring the timely and efficient acquisition of goods and services. The Head of Procurement plays a critical role in driving operational excellence and delivering an enhanced capability. This role will also be part of the senior leadership team

 

Key responsibilities

  •  People management responsibilities for the Procurement Team, providing direction, guidance and technical advice, building a highly competent team and holding them accountable for performance.  
  • Management of the procurement Reseller Profit Centre and day-to-day purchasing requirements and operational cycle, including sales and purchase order processing, post order management and delivery tracking.  
  • Development and operationalisation of OryxAlign’s procurement strategy, which incorporates its supply chain ecosystem, vendor, supplier and partner strategy and relevant policies.  
  • Support to OryxAlign’s compliance requirements, including ISO-9001.  
  • Play a significant role in building sales revenue by establishing strategic relationships with OryxAlign’s core vendors.  
  • Looking beyond immediate supply-chain requirements, establish OryxAlign’s vendor and supply-chain model(s) to reduce risk and support driving growth, commercial advantage and creating value in the company’s supply-chain.  
  • Where applicable, manage vendor SLA and SLR requirements, including their integration into OryxAlign’s client contracts.  
  • Ensure and assure OryxAlign’s supplier and vendor management regulatory, training and certification programmes and compliance requirement.  
  • Ensure vendor rebates, where applicable, are maximised and managed to their full potential.  
  • Collaboration with the OryxAlign’s Technical Steering Group to evaluate new potential vendors and partners.  
  • Take responsibility for the overall on-boarding and service introduction of new vendors and suppliers. 

     

What we need from our Head of Procurement


As a Head of Procurement, you will have strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, including the ability to builds trusted relationships across OryxAlign and externally. You must be able to understand and demonstrate service excellence, driving this competence both intra and inter-departmentally, this includes demonstrating a role model to OryxAlign’s company’s values and supporting our longer-term objectives.  

The successful candidate must have the ability to deliver accurate work while meeting tight deadlines and managing concurrent requirements in a dynamic, client driven environment. They must be comfortable operating to a strategic horizon, with the ability to support operationalising corporate-level objectives into operational activity whilst operating with autonomy based on higher-level direction. They must have predominance to collaborate and apply innovative solutions with the influence to drive decisions. 

 

Experience and expertise


Essential:

  • Excellent people management and communication skills 
  • MSP domain expertise relevant to procurement, supply-chain management and vendor management. 
  • Managing a profit centre 
  • Domain expertise with ConnectWise PSA, or an equivalent industry recognised platform. 


Desirable:

  • Vendor Partner Programmes 
  • Relevant qualification, ideally in Procurement Management. 
  • Project Management methodologies 
  • Risk Management methodologies 
  • ITIL foundation, Service Portfolio Management and Supplier Management Framework
